Our Aims
The Academy, is to be established to offer a unique undergraduate programme that gives students the opportunity to gain an education that reflects the demands of the contemporary world and equips them to think and communicate as leaders. The Academy will offer a broad based programme that enables students to play a full and constructive role in society.
The Programme
The programme is punctuated by opportunities to visit organisations affiliated with the academy in europe and around the world, including members of the EMU (European Muslim Union). Graduates enter the field of Politics, Economics, E-commerce, Media and IT, Translation and Business. It should be emphasised that the Dallas Academy equips students to be all round leaders, with multi-disciplinary knowledge and personal autonomy that it requires. As such the 3 year BA (hons) programme provides a unique and rigorous grounding that will benefit the student throughout their chosen career. Our rigorous selection procedure and small number of students provide a learning community that is truly exceptional in todays international education.
Dallas Academy Online is a one stop teaching site that is born from an initiative to desperately bring together a full time college of leadership. The thrust of the academy is to teach an understanding of society in a post modern era. At Dallas Academy, we feel that present society needs to take from an old age, as a new age must prepare for a new era. Present society, seems to be at the peak of success, although statistics show that we are heading towards human extinction. Consumerism outweighs growth, as demand outstrips supply, human population is at its highest ever and natural resources are depleting fast. Mankind is creating his own destiny, without the worship of his creator. The Global financial system is in a crisis, resulting in a rise in fuel prices, as well as a sharp rise in food prices, are we facing a financial depression?
Allah tells us in Surat al Baqara from the Noble Qur’an:
It is He who created everything on the earth for you
And then directed His attention up to the heaven
And arranged it into seven regular heavens.
He has knowledge of all things.
When your Lord said to the angels,
‘I am putting a khalif on the earth’,
they said ‘Why put on it one who will cause corruption on it
and shed blood when we glorify You with praise
and proclaim Your purity?’
He said ‘I know what you do not know’
He taught Adam the names of all things.
Then He arrayed them before the angels and said,
‘Tell me the names of these if you are telling the truth.’
They said ‘Glory be to You!, We have no knowledge
Except what You have taught us.
You are the All-Knowing, the All Wise.’
He said, ‘Did I not tell you that I know
The Unseen of the heavens and the earth,
And I know what you make known
And what you hide?’
It is from this verse of the Noble Book that Dallas Academy takes its step towards restoring the responsibility that the angels did not understand and in the following Ayat Allah explains:
‘We offered the Trust to the heavens,
the earth and the mountains
but they refused to take it on and shrank from it,
But man took it on.
He is indeed wrongdoing and ignorant.
(Surah Al Ahzab Verse 72)
Allah here has offered the Trust, which means the entire responsibility as a steward on his earth. Imam Qurtubi further explains in his tafsir about the following verse:
"O you who believe! Obey Allah and obey the Messenger and those in command among you. ..."Qur'an, 4, 59,
that the ayat is an order to "obey the Sultan with respect to seven things: the minting of the dinar and the dirham, fixing weights and measures, legal judgements, Hajj, Jumu'ah, the two Eids and Jihad."
These above matters require a leader to have sound judgement and knowledge of the following:
- An understanding of a bimetallic currency, economy and trade.
- A sound understanding of fiqh and the muamalat surrounding economical matters
- A rationale approach to jurisprudence which may require in the present time a reasoning of analogy (qiyas).
- An understanding of creation, time and the solar system with regards to Moonsighting and the fixing of the calendar to establish the Hajj, the sighting of the new moon of Ramadhan and so forth
- A clear understanding of the time and place we are in to contemplate any restrictive movements within the deen to instigate further openings for Islam.
- To restore leadership also means to enoble the trust Allah has put on us, and that requires respect of the oceans, land and all living matter.
May Allah guide us towards success and restoration of this trust which Man is responsible for, through every step and action he takes.
